What is detoxification?
According to Princeton University, detoxification is “the treatment for poisoning by neutralizing the toxic properties (normally a function of the liver)”. There are three areas of our body that it is necessary to detoxify; the liver, the colon and the blood. Due to the food we eat, the environment we live in, the medications we take, and the addictive behaviors we participate in, our body is on a continuous clean up detail. The main organ for this is the liver. The liver functions to help maintain the volume of blood, store, and process (metabolize) fats and cholesterol, Metabolize and store carbohydrates, make and secrete bile that contains bile acids to aid in the intestinal absorption of fats and the fat-soluble vitamins, eliminate the potentially harmful biochemical products produced by the body, and to detoxify by metabolizing and/or secreting, drugs, alcohol, and environmental toxins. As you can see, the liver is vital to our survival. This is why we must keep it clean. The blood and colon, which also have vital functions, need to be cleaned once in a while as well.

What is entailed in doing a detoxification?
To complete a detoxification (detox), we incorporate a special diet, herbals and lifestyle modification. The length of time and order of detox depends on your individual needs. In general we start with a two week liver cleanse and go from there.

What is the cost?
The cost is very inexpensive at only $50 for the liver cleanse kit, plus your initial visit and a follow up two weeks later. It is important to note that you will have a special diet. I am a firm believer in whole food eating, so the diet is ultra important. But for the long-term benefits, it is worth two weeks of limiting yourself.
